The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (“TIHK”) established in Hong Kong in 1972 and has been the leading professional entity in the field of taxation. For the purpose to pursue the objective of promoting the study and practice of taxation, TIHK has announced its intention the introduction of the public qualifying examination to qualify tax professionals in 2009. The examination is known as “Certified Tax Adviser” examination, candidates who have been admitted to the qualification examination and has prescribed years of tax practice experience will be conferred the title of “Certified Tax Adviser” or “CTA” the abbreviation of the title in full.

Chartered Secretaries are high ranking professionals who are trained for the purpose to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, effective operations, compliance and administration. The HKAEE is organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee (“ECC”) serves as a prestigious awards scheme. It aims to encourage businesses and organizations to adopt green management; and present them with an opportunity to benchmark their commitment towards environmental protection.
One type of recognition provided by the HKAEE is “Environmental Labels”. The Environmental Labels encourages participants to implement self-improvement and recognize entities that have achieved specific environmental goals. The main reason for having this scheme is that some businesses/organizations may chose to be in a position only to perform well in a specific areas (e.g. waste reduction), but not consider to an overall manner. However, their efforts are still worth being recognized.
There are four Environmental Labels, namely Wastewise, Energywise, IAQwise and Productwise, to encourage benchmark and recognize businesses’/organizations’ environmental performance towards waste reduction, energy saving, indoor air quality improvement and product environmental attributes improvement respectively.
